Seriously … I know that this is an old story, but it was a tired story when it was written.

“It is now time for the RNC to assert itself in terms of ideas and political philosophy,” Mr. Pullen added. “If we don’t do it now, when will we?”

No, Mr. Pullen, it’s time for individuals to remove themselves from partisan, political, do-nothing organizations and take a principled stand. Oh, there is so much about that article that makes me just seeth that I really must leave before I write something I will surely regret later!

Oh, but I cannot, dang. This infernal “two party system” garbage is so difficult to debate against. If you are this religion or this race, then you will be for that party. What? How about being a prinicpled individual and taking action based on reason and conscious choice. Over 325 people voted FOR both the bank and auto industry bailouts despite their constituents’ belief that both were wrong. And now the RNC feels it is important to create a resolution. Too little too late.

Zyuganov’s statement that “We have to squeeze everything we can from this situation” in order to regain communist power reminds me of the Obama administration’s belief that they should ‘never let a crisis go to waste’. And they’ve certainly made good on that philosophy so far. It is disturbing, but not surprising, that our present administration is united in principle with the Russian communists in their transmutation of schadenfreude into political gain.

I used to have a Union job. I know the pressure that goes along with being a union member.

“Hey come over here a sec…. do you want a Free hot dog?…Do you realize what the union is providing for you? You want to pay your dues and become a full member don’t you?”

No thanks…keep your hot dog. Yes to secret ballots

Who will regulate the regulators? It’s a cycle of blank out. I guess it’s our job as citizens to keep them in check.
It’s interesting, all the Utah Department of Commerce seems to want is to keep their power to do their jobs and accuse innocent people of crimes they may or may not have committed. It’s just the same old case of Bureaucratic blues.

I remember when I read Atlas – I thought the storyline was a little far-fetched and absurd. That’s when I first started taking real note of what was happening in the government in detail. We’re lucky first of all that the nations producers aren’t disappearing and second that there still is a thread by which the US Constitution currently hangs. We should band together and change the thinking in the US from the ground up because it’s obviously getting worse as we try to accomplish it from the top down. Another good book you might enjoy is “The Devil’s Advocate” by Taylor Caldwell.

I am just finishing “Atlas Shrugged” for the first time and have been truly amazed at the similarities between what Rand wrote 50+ years ago and today’s political response to our economic crisis.

However, I take issue with the following statement in this article: “If only “Atlas” were required reading for every member of Congress and political appointee in the Obama administration. I’m confident that we’d get out of the current financial mess a lot faster.” The government officials are already attaining their desired ends – more power.

In order to truly get out of this current financial mess, it is the people who need to read this book. Until the people rise up and demand that government officials follow principle, we will just keep getting more of the same ill-conceived economic plans which benefit the politically connected at the expense of the rest of society.
