Chavez: Socialism is the Only Route to the Salvation of the World.

BEIJING (Reuters) – Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez broke into an unlikely snippet of song for bitter ideological foe George W. Bush on Thursday, trilling “you are so like me” about the man he has called a donkey and the devil.
The staunch leftist said the world financial crisis had forced his U.S. counterpart to recognize flaws in the economic system that he had been pointing out for years.
“I am sounding like Bush, more or less. What a novelty!” Chavez said, after quoting from Bush’s warning that the United States was in the middle of a serious financial crisis that could push the economy into a long-term recession.
He then serenaded startled journalists before settling back into more familiar criticism of the “imperialist” regime he said had brought the current crisis upon itself.
“The president of the United States has finally recognized there is a crisis…that they are the ones who are responsible for the collapse that is happening the in world at the moment, the financial tsunami,” he told a news conference in Beijing.
“Socialism is the only route to the salvation of the world.”
Outspoken Chavez says Venezuela’s socialist economic system, based around state-owned national champions, has protected it from the worst of the turmoil now roiling global markets.
The self-proclaimed Maoist was in China to boost oil sales and secure extra cash for development programs in China.

Oh … My!
I don’t even know what to say to that. He points to fascism and says it’s an example of how capitalism ruins society.
How desperate would you have to be to listen to a man like Chavez? That guy’s a creep.
Of course this was coming (or should I say, “continuing”?). There are many, many socialists just chomping at the bit, waiting for the fall of capitalism. What they fail to look at (or at least they fail to disclose any awareness) is that it is socialist-type practices injected into a free-market system that has caused the current situations. Unfortunately, it’s American politics that continues to muddy this dirty water and expose the real bad example.

So once again that crazy little dictator continues to act crazy for the world to see and the press covers him and the elites love him.
You know his original campain slogan was “Socialism or Death” so you can guess where his mind is taking him right now.
Where is the source article? Is this a joke – putting the Reuters logo up here to give an appearance of validity? No indication of who copy/pasted these word and where they are from?!
I laugh at those sheepy comments here. You’ll bite at everything that has the word socialism in it, because that’s what “you have been trained, thought, and educated to do” to use R. Koerbers words.
If you’d be interested to know what Chavez represents to his nation, why don’t you figure out what the people of Venezuela think? You prefer to believe what you want to believe.
“Crazy little dictator”. Damn, look at your own funny president.
More than anything else – it is this statement and statements like this that scare me most about the financial turmoil.
“Bad things would not happen if power was in the hands of the state rather than filthy private interests.”
I’ve been hearing this from leftists for friends for years, and they are actually sneering with delight to see the mess that we are in, while they have no hope of conceiving that the combination of the state with private enterprise created this monstrosity.
I’m amazed at how governments have us believing that they can be trusted with power and we cannot. How is it that they’ve convinced us that the private sector is “them” and the public sector is “us” – when it’s completely the other way around.

It’s not that surprising, considering that Engles said the same thing when he came up with the principles of communism 161 years ago, this month. This is the quote from Fredrick Engles regarding Communism:
“Will it be possible for this revolution to take place in one country alone?
No. By creating the world market, big industry has already brought all the peoples of the Earth, and especially the civilized peoples, into such close relation with one another that none is independent of what happens to the others.
Further, it has co-ordinated the social development of the civilized countries to such an extent that, in all of them, bourgeoisie and proletariat have become the decisive classes, and the struggle between them the great struggle of the day. It follows that the communist revolution will not merely be a national phenomenon but must take place simultaneously in all civilized countries – that is to say, at least in England, America, France, and Germany.
It will develop in each of the these countries more or less rapidly, according as one country or the other has a more developed industry, greater wealth, a more significant mass of productive forces. Hence, it will go slowest and will meet most obstacles in Germany, most rapidly and with the fewest difficulties in England. It will have a powerful impact on the other countries of the world, and will radically alter the course of development which they have followed up to now, while greatly stepping up its pace.
It is a universal revolution and will, accordingly, have a universal range.
At least Chavez is coming right out and saying it rather taking the approach of politicians, even within our country, and calling it by a different name. The principles of Socialism are the same-
It is our responsibility to understand what they are and what we can do to fight against them!
Alexander Schneider,
The source of this article happens to be Reuters, of all places. Go figure.
Your negativity has successfully turned your brain so far off that you can’t even recognize authenticity. I am embarrassed for you.
I will concur with you on one point, which is the reason this news article got posted here in the first place: Bush is very much like Chavez. The past few weeks have showed us that, for sure.
Alex
I dont currently know any Venezuelans, but the Columbians I’ve listened to on the subject are scared to death of “that wacko”
Yes he is a little dictator who took over in an illegitimate election (unless you, like Jimmy Carter accept intimidation, violence and murder as legitimate campaining)
Hugo Chavez represents the ideals of the brute; Might makes right. He demonstrated that with his nationalization of the oil companies in his poor country. This act has not help one person there but himself and his band of violent followers.
George Bush is not, nor has ever been ideal to me, he however doesnt kill or imprison everybody who disagrees with him politically.
Chavez’s national oil company seems to be useful only for basic foodstuffs. How’s that for salvation?
“The company now grows food after Mr Chavez’s price controls emptied supermarket shelves of products like milk and eggs. Another branch produces furniture and domestic appliances in an effort to stem the flow of imports. What PDVSA seems unable to do is produce more oil”

Alexander, you ask me to find out what the people of Venezuela think [of Chavez] and then I will know what “Chavez represents to his nation”. Then what? Say I find the people of Venezuela think highly of Chavez, what have I learned? Say they think very poorly of Chavez, what have I learned? I’ve learned that the people of Venezuela either think highly or poorly of Chavez. Lets take a look at how the followers of Hitler felt about him. Stalin…Satan…(Insert somebody you would consider evil) I’m not calling Chavez Hitler, Stalin or Satan. I’m simply illustrating that the feelings and opinions followers have regarding their leaders tells us nothing of the validity or the truthfulness of what the Leaders teach, say or think.
This man speaks to the emotionally week minded individual. Sure we hear words like “Salvation of the world” and we fail to question just who’s definition of Salvation are we speaking of. A close personal friend left Venezuela a few years ago because she wanted a life that, in her words, “Was worth Living”. Her family stayed behind, hoping that things would improve while they ran the family business. Sadly things have only gotten worse and local officials have taken over the family business in the interest of the people.
It is sad to see that there are places in the world where someone would rather risk death in search of freedom and they come to a country that is so full of individuals who would rather give up that freedom for government security. It is almost sickening to witness.
Then se read comments like these from a leader that professes to lead his people in such a way that is good for all:
“The president of the United States has finally recognized there is a crisis…that they are the ones who are responsible for the collapse that is happening the in world at the moment, the financial tsunami,” he told a news conference in Beijing. “Socialism is the only route to the salvation of the world.”
Imagine my surprise as I took time to read what was going on in Venezuela since this article was written. Just posted yesterday was a startling view of the influence this man will seek to promote within the United Nations.
Venezuela Elected to United Nations Economic and Social Council
October 24, 2008 by VenWorld
Today is an exciting and historic day for Venezuela, as it was elected a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. ECOSOC is a vitally important coordinating body of the United Nations and serves as a “central forum for the discussion of economic and social issues.”
Venezuela “will have the opportunity to show the world the importance of the social projects being implemented from the South”, said Ruben Dario Molina of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
Venezuela will begin its service in ECOSOC on January 1, 2009. During its 3 year term, Venezuela will work with the nations of the world to:
-promote higher standards of living, full employment, and economic and social progress
-identify solutions to international economic, social and health problems
-facilitate international cultural and educational cooperation
-encourage universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms
Venezuela has been leading by example for the last decade, and now has the chance to share that experience with the world.
When I look at comments like these, it always seems interesting that tyrannical (sp?) leaders use words like ’salvation’. Only One can offer salvation and anytime men set themselves up to even shadow that ability, we need to question their motives. They are either delusional or deceivers.
It’s always been interesting to me, that those who are the biggest cheerleaders of socialism are either in the business of trying to consolidate power at the expense of others, or those who have never carried their weight in the first place and honestly don’t intend to. They want someone else to produce the value for them while they consume it.
I’m actually glad to see socialist comments like Alex’s on here, because it helps keep the rest of us intellectually awake and on our toes. Don’t be lulled to sleep! It is a battle of ideas and for the past 50 years the socialists have been winning.
The point is, do you want the power to determine your own life, or have someone else do it for you? That’s the choice between capitalism and socialism as a moral issue.
